Son of Walter James Chalcroft and Lillian Ann Page of Winnipeg, Manitoba.Husband of Phoebe Catherine Lomax, of Petersfield, Manitoba. Father of Elaine Lillian Kate and Sandra Kathleen Chalcroft.

He was a sergeant with the 10th Machine Gun Battalion – NPAM – in Winnipeg, Manitoba, part of the Winnipeg Grenadiers, from February 24, 1927 to December 12, 1929.

He served only in Canada for 285 days.

Location:

The cemetery is located immediately west of the Red River College, at 3001 Notre Dame Avenue, in the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba. During the First World War, Winnipeg was the headquarters of No 10 Military District and it contained six military hospitals of 972 beds. Air force and army training camps were established in the area during the Second World War, with No 103 Canadian Army Basic Training Centre at Fort Garry. Winnipeg (Brookside) Cemetery contains 299 Commonwealth burials of the First World War and 149 from the Second World War, most of them in the special military plot.
